The homes we live in, the roads and bridges we travel on, the buildings we work and play in - they are the structures and systems that sustain our world, thanks to the expertise and ingenuity of civil engineers. Ryerson graduates in this dynamic discipline plan, design and build the essential infrastructures of daily life, including power and water supply structures and waste treatment facilities, bridges, roads and dams. Knowledgeable, skilled and inventive, these professionals devise innovative solutions for building, managing, operating and maintaining a variety of facilities. The undergraduate program is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB), and graduates are eligible for certification by the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) as Professional Engineers (P.Eng.). The first two years of a revamped curriculum are common to all students. At the end of the second year, students will have the opportunity to continue in the regular Civil Engineering program, with courses in the environmental, geomatics, transportation and structural/materials areas, or apply to enroll in a two-year specialized Structural Engineering option. Students in the program will also enroll during their final year in an exciting capstone design group project, conducted in collaboration with an industry partner.
